A New Frontier

A growing body of research over the past decade is uncovering the many ways human health is affected by the microbiome–the community of microorganisms (such as bacteria, fungi, archaea, viruses and bacteriophages) living in or on the human body. The varied role of the microbiome, the forty trillion bacteria and other microbiota residing in our GI tract, is now an intense field of study. Scientist are discovering that a healthy GI has about one thousand different species, composing a diverse ecology with a complex interaction with human physiology. The microbiome has been associated with a variety of health conditions including metabolic, gastrointestinal, immunology, cancer, infectious disease and central nervous system disorders.

MBT is a pioneer in this exciting field, having conducted some of the first controlled clinical trials with its GI microbiome modulators. MBT aims to be a leading company in leveraging this rapidly emerging science to develop innovative supplements to our diets that are frequently missing nutrients vital to microbiome health. Our goal is to promote health with our GI microbiome modulators by addressing important unmet needs and offering our products in a variety of formats.

Addressing Dysbiosis:  When the Microbiome is Out of Balance

Scientific studies have shown that a number of health conditions such as metabolic disorders are linked to dysbiosis, an imbalance in the GI microbiome population. Advances in the science of the microbiome are making it possible to develop new therapies based on modulation of the microorganisms and their environment in the GI tract. As an early adopter of this approach, MBT is already well versed in leveraging the microbiome to develop innovative new supplements designed to safely promote a healthy microbiome, initially focusing on health conditions associated with metabolism.*

Our products are supported by scientific evidence, including clinical testing, when appropriate, and our health claims will be evidence-based and in conformance with regulatory requirements.
